The Board of Abatement is the only body authorized to abate any or all of the property taxes assessed by the town. The conditions under which the Board may grant an abatement are regulated by the State. The Board consists of all of the Justices of the Peace, the Selectmen, and all Listers. The Board of Abatement meets as needed in the Town Hall to hear requests for tax abatements.
