The Highway Department is the largest Town department and is chiefly responsible for maintaining all of the Town’s roads, bridges, and culverts as well as all facilities and properties of the Town. Currently, the Town actively maintains approximately seventy miles of roads — fifty miles of which are gravel — and five Town facilities.
The Highway Department operates out of two facilities — a main highway garage located just west of the Westminster I91 interchange and a materials storage facility on the west side of the Town in the Westminster West Village area. Annually, the Town Highway Department operates seven trucks and four pieces of large equipment — traveling over 100,000 fleet miles a year.
